December

We round out 2022 with our last business meeting of the year as well as the Rotary Christmas Bingo, where we managed to raise some fantastic funds for charity, and our Christmas lunch. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all from the Shaftesbury Rotary Club.

November

We head into the final month of 2022 with a quiet November. We held are usual two business meetings, which included a great story from a Scandanavian cruise Steve Keates with a generous presentation, as well as positive updates on the RotaKids initiative and the Young Chef and Youth Speaks competitions, both of which are to be held early in 2023.

October

We had a lot going on this October, starting with a social and recruitment evening at Breezy Ridge VIneyard Restaurant. We were then treated to a talk from Ian Kellett, secretary of The Shaftesbury & District Historical Society whilst Shaftebury’s RotaKids club launched. Later in the month, we had a fundraising quiz before rounding out with our second business meeting of the month.

September

A busy month this month, as we began by paying a visit to our twinned town of Heerleen in the Netherlands. We also launched RotaKids Shaftesbury and had our annual golf day. We had our usual business meetings, and finally we bid a sad farewell to Mike Foote.

August

A quiet month as we bring the summer to a close with our two business meetings, including a talk from Brigadier Geoffrey Ransbury, as well as a visit to the Olive Bowl in Gillingham for their President’s Dinner.

July

We entered July with arguably one of the biggest events of the year, the Gold Hill Festival. We also convened for our usual business meetings with an interesting talk on Henry V and medieval power politics from our guest speaker, whilst we invite you to take a look at an effective approach to charity fundraising from three Rotary clubs in Frome.

June

Change is afoot as we enter a new Presidential year at the Shaftesbury Rotary Club. We also received a very kind “thank you” for donations to good causes as well as information on the upcoming RotaKids, Youth Speaks and Young Chef programmes.

May

An eventful month that saw the Youth Speaks District Final take place, a battle against the weather with the North Dorset Cycle Ride, our business meetings, including the Club Assembly that saw the plans for the year from the incoming Rotary President plus a thank you from Aquabox.

April

A busy month saw a long-awaited Tapas night, a visit from a guest speaker to talk to us about climate change, our AGM and a special tree-planting as part of the continued build up to Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, at Shaftesbury School.
