May Timeline

Sunday 10th May – Despite Road Closures and a late route change, cyclists still loved the route. Another successful North Dorset Cycle Ride, sponsored by BV Dairy/First Milk who also entered their own riders.

The weather albeit dry, was windy and chilly on Park Walk and exposed parts of the route. Cyclists were able to get their caffeine fix by Bamboo Coffee, before taking off on the three new routes through our stunning Dorset and Wiltshire Countryside.

The Nadder Centre at Tisbury became the natural place for a feed station for the 25 & 50 mile cyclists with snacks provided Lidl, Shaftesbury and hot drinks by Coffee Devils.

Fun was in abundance on the Family Cycle Ride, with a new course at Barton Hill Skate Park utilising the ramps that were in place. The course was open to both adults and children, setting Mums and Dads off against their children. Refreshments were very kindly supplied by our sponsors BV Dairy.

After the final challenge of Gold Hill, all riders returned to Park Walk to receive their medals, plus sausages and burgers cooked by fellow Rotarians, and refreshments from Bamboo Coffee.

The whole event is organised by Shaftesbury Rotary Club to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK (the main beneficiary) and other local charities. The generosity of First Milk/BV Dairy, Lidl, The Nadder Centre, volunteers and Rotakids for their invaluable support enabling the event to run successfully. We also thank Bamboo Coffee and Shaftesbury Chiropractic for their donations. The final figures are yet to be finalized regarding money raised but will be published soon.

Speaker Meeting – 11th May 2026 After a fairly brief discussion on recent projects, ongoing projects and future social events, we welcomed tonight’s speakers Vanessa Spencer and Roisin Ferry of Shaftesbury Chiropractic. Having attended both the fun run and the cycle ride with Stevie & the treatment couch to, they took the opportunity this evening to enlighten the members on health and fitness. It became apparent during an amusing delivery by Vanessa & Roisin with interactive questions that some members where quite familiar with the ailments and injuries and scored near perfect answers. Bernard took particular attention and asked the most questions by far. Shaftesbury Chiropractic Dorset
