April 2025

6th April A glorious sunny Sunday brought out both families and keen runners to join in Shaftesbury Rotary’s second Family Fun Run and what an enjoyable morning it was, for all, runners, spectators and marshals  The event had around 150 entries with half of the fitter runners opting for the 10 kilometre and the remainder opting for the 5 kilometre run.

We were assisted by the Abbey Rotakids handing out Jelly Babies and water, at the refreshment stops.   The Friends of Westminster Memorial Hospital in Shaftesbury will be the main beneficiary of this year’s Fun Run profits.

Thank you to our sponsors, Bloomfield and Associates Ltd. Independent Financial Advisors, Shaftesbury. As well as thanking the RotaKids and their parents, we would also like to thank BAD (Brave and Determined) for setting up their coffee trailer and providing refreshments, www.badco.uk  Finally, we also thank families and friends for giving up their Sunday morning to help set up and marshall the course.

14th April, a regular meeting with discussion on past and future events, followed by a fascinating and lighthearted talk from Andy Cole on a career in local Government from Wales to the Northern and Southern Counties.

28th April – Monthly Business meeting – Unusually brief this month after the regular reports, but followed by the spring general meeting round up of the years activities as posted elsewhere on website.
