With Christmas just around the corner, the annual shoebox appeal was all systems go in November. We also caught up with an old friend to hear about progress with the Dungri Village project, and Shaftesbury school sixth form pupils were put through their paces in mock interviews with some of our members.

October was a month of helping others. Jon Miles from Global Sight Savers spoke about their work helping prevent blindness in India and Africa. We learnt more about the efforts of Fathers House aiding local families and also, the Partners evening saw the presentation of the money raised from this year’s main events to their charities.

September saw a brilliant trip to visit our twinning town of Heerlen in the Netherlands, where we spent time with some truly fantastic hosts and enjoyed a wonderful weekend away. We also had some very interesting talks about Dementia and Fair Trade in Shaftesbury.

After July’s bumper activity month, August was more quiet due to the last bank holiday of the year. We had two fantastic talks from two very important local charities which include Step by Step and Father’s House. We also had our monthly business meeting where we discussed the South Dorset Cycle Ride and local Cheese Festival.
